Doomsday clock struck for Top Ten Teams............

For Fans residing in towns like Boulder, Tampa Bay, Atlanta, Champaign, Berkeley, College Park and Manhattan well you probably still have a bit of a hang over from the late night celebrations that took place this past Saturday. On the other hand, it was a day to forgot for those team on the losing end of the scoreboard as dreams of playing in the BCS Championship game took a serious backseat to those in the ranks of the still unbeaten. It is going to be difficult for both LSU, who is now working through the meaty part of their SEC schedule, and the Trojans who still have games @ CAL, Notre Dame and ending the season home vs. UCLA, to end the season undefeated so there is still a chance. Below are some interesting factoids from the great action experienced this past Saturday. Enjoy..........

Colt Brennan has rewritten the Hawaii passing record book, but it's a bet he didn't want this record. The senior QB threw a school-record five interceptions in the win over Idaho.
161
It was Flag Day for USC, which was penalized 16 times for 161 yards -- the most penalty yards the Trojans have drawn in more than two seasons -- in escaping Washington 27-24.
328
Behind Thomas Brown's 180 yards, Georgia amassed 328 yards on the ground in beating Ole Miss. It was the most rushing yards in head coach Mark Richt's seven years in Athens.
Is any first-year coach looking better than Jeff Jagodzinski right now? He has Boston College off to its best start (5-0) since 1954 and, for the first time in 15 years, the Eagles have landed in the top 10.

The Illini delivered the biggest win of Ron Zook's era as they beat a ranked opponent for the first time since 2001 (the season of their last bowl appearance) and have their first 2-0 record in the Big Ten in 16 years.

Cracking the Code: How Teams Navigate the Transfer Portal Maze in College Football

Venturing into the transfer portal in college football is more art than science. While there are analytical approaches to scouting, the process remains a nuanced gamble for schools, especially given the vast pool of thousands of players each cycle. The spotlight often gravitates towards top transfers like Keon Coleman and Sam Hartman, but hidden gems emerge from less glamorous backgrounds. These unsung heroes, players who initially slipped under the radar upon entering the portal, often evolve into impact starters or all-conference-level players at their new homes. The quest for these less-obvious contributors raises questions: How do teams identify players from FCS backgrounds who can thrive in the Big Ten? Can a former star recruit, plagued by injuries, rediscover success at a new destination? To uncover the strategies behind finding these under-the-radar stars, 247Sports spoke with coaches and personnel experts. Notably, the majority of players discussed had transfer ratings belo...
